Mansfield, North Nottinghamshire, UK, underwent a major
£ 1.5 million upgrade affecting part of its sewerage
infrastructure, with trenches being excavated through
massive sandstone strata to 7.5 metres depth over a
stretch of 1.7 kilometres.
Many sections of the trench excavations require the
negotiation of a criss-cross maze of essential mains
services, ranging through water mains, high voltage
power cables, gas and telephone highways and a fibre-optic
cable system.
Four Webster Schaeff hydraulically-driven rotary TCUs
(three 60 kW and one 120 kW) were mounted to Samsung
210, Caterpillar 320 and Daweoo machines, operated by
sub-contractor, McManamon Construction.
